Overpopulation: Its Implication to Biodiversity, Economy, Health, and Resources

As we move to modernization, we prefer to use all the resources present in our surroundings to meet all our needs. Imagine, we are 7.8 billion people living on this planet, lurking everywhere, thriving and competing to survive. Due to this determination to survive, we tend to compromise all the vital system that is essential for our survival; the biodiversity, economy, health, and resources. These systems give us an avenue to live prosperously and harmoniously without any disturbances. But, given that we are 7.8 billion, all those vital systems were under sage because the competition is prevalent especially to the dense areas where the population is concentrated (competition for food, natural resources, getting into the top, and etc.). Overpopulation or concentrated population of a certain area is quite alarming since it exposes the people who reside on it to the unexpected outcome that might compromise the anthropogenic status of an area. So let's go, let's tackle its implication.

According to the projections of the United Nations last 2015, 7.3 billion people have been present at that time and it means that today, it increased exponentially since the population is volatile. With this, if a certain portion of the huge population had existed to a certain place or an area, it causes biological degradation. Given a substantial surge of an individual had existed in a given area, it causes massive destruction to the biological system since an individual pushes himself/herself to seek anything that sustains for living. Agriculture, terraforming, housing, mining, and etc are the ways and practices that destroy the natural milieu which causes the species to go extinct or get endangered. So we need to pay attention to these practices to do some sustainable ways for us to maintain nature.

As the overpopulation ballistically burst up, individuals go up as well and the economy will bloom but, given that individuals are still increasing, the demand increases too and the price of a certain product goes up as well. With the price surge brought the influx of population, are we still able to have the things that we wanted? The price must go up just to maintain the product's availability to the public as well as to maintain the resources that are required to produce that certain product that is derived from nature or the ecosystem. With this, if our global population grows exponentially, we will suffer from a substantial amount of everything.

When the population is high, the health condition of a certain individual is at risk. Due to the fact diseases can easily move because of crowdedness which may cause epidemic or pandemic if it gets worse, stress is prevalent since all the surrounding activities or sounds have an impact on the individual which causes heath risk.

Resources are known to be prolific since it requires time to be produced but due to overpopulation, its rarity is at stake. Increasing demand because of unending wants causes our resources to deplete since it encourages the companies to generate or produce more products out of a certain resource just to compensate for the market demand. With this kind mindset, it slowly kills and sucks all the resources that our planet has and no one knows it will be gone now or soon.

With all, overpopulation is one of the most relevant contemporary issues that the ear of each nation must lend on. Since it is quite alarming that the logistical capability of our planet is at stake and it has an impact on all of us if the population had skyrocketed so fast that our planet could not compensate our essential needs to survive. So, let us be mindful enough and be cautious in all the things that we are about to do for us to have a better place to live.
